Hundreds have already started and even finished the game in the Hafnarfjörður Rat Game this summer. 27 markers have been laid out far and wide across the Hafnarfjörður hinterland and, in some cases, into neighbouring municipalities.

Hundreds have already started and even finished a round in the Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt this summer. Some have already reached round two and have brought more people with them. That's how the Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt works; it's not just fun, but also very infectious. The Scavenger Hunt runs from June to September each year.
„My husband and I are taking part for the first time this year. The aim is to find all 27 signs and enjoy discovering new gems. We are intentionally focusing on our health, as there's no other way to do it in the health capital of Hafnarfjörður, where natural gems and adventures are around every corner,“ says Valdimar Víðisson, the mayor of Hafnarfjörður. For years, the couple have tried something new every month, and the treasure hunt was their latest new activity in July. „Guðni Gíslason, who is responsible for this magnificent treasure hunt, challenged me to take part, and I accept the challenge with a smile.“
Search for 27 markers with a scavenger hunt map
27 markers have been placed far and wide across the hinterland of Hafnarfjörður and, in some cases, into neighbouring municipalities. The scavenger hunt has a long history and has served to increase and enhance the outdoor activities, interest and knowledge of the people of Hafnarfjörður and friends of the town about its hinterland. People have thus become acquainted with new and interesting places, monuments, archaeological remains and landforms. The Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt is a joint project between Hönnunarhúsið ehf. and the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður.
Participants search for the clues using a free, high-quality scavenger hunt map and mark the solution words. Everyone who submits their solutions will be entered into a draw for the Swiftfoot, Hiking Hero, and Puzzle King, who will receive grand prizes when the game ends. Everyone who has found at least 9 clues is encouraged to submit their solutions by 23 September at the latest. The scavenger hunt's harvest festival is held annually at the end of September and is always packed.
