Expertise that is put to good use

The City of Hafnarfjörður has signed a contract with the Keili Golf Club for the mowing and maintenance of the football pitches belonging to FH, Haukar and Hamranes. The expertise of the Keili members is well utilised in the care of the football pitches, which cover a total area of approximately 65,000 square metres.

“We want to ensure professionals are on the job. Keili has a great deal of experience and knowledge in the maintenance of grass pitches. It is important to look after all these pitches properly to ensure their longevity and, not least, the enjoyment of those who use them.” says Geir Bjarnason, sports and leisure officer for the City of Hafnarfjörður.

Includes mowing and more

The contract is larger now than before, as FH's new training ground, the Hybrid pitch, is included. This pitch can be used for much longer than other pitches, partly due to its construction and the blend of artificial and natural grass, as well as the heating system in the pitch. Under the contract, which is worth just over 23 million krónur, the City of Hafnarfjörður commits to purchasing mowing for the grass pitches of the two sports clubs and the Hamarsvöllur, along with deep-tining, sanding, and the spreading of fertiliser, overseeding, cleaning, sweeping, compaction measurement and consultancy services in accordance with partnership agreements with the respective clubs. All prices are inclusive of VAT, are subject to changes in the construction index, and are based on the area sizes as of 2024, or 64,255 sq. m.

The contract is valid until 2027.
