Lækjarskóli winner in its category in the Lifshlaupið
Pupils at Lækjarskóli were among those who took an active part in the 2023 Lífshlaupið primary school competition. There was 100% participation among the school's pupils, and the entire school community pulled together on exercise, encouragement and registration. This ambition earned Lækjarskóli 1st place in its category in the Lífshlaupið.
Ambition in physical activity and registration earned the school a victory.
Individuals, company staff and students in Hafnarfjörður did their bit in this year's Life Run. Students from Lækjarskóli were among those who took an active part in the Life Run's primary school competition. There was 100% participation among the school's pupils, and the entire school community pulled together on exercise, encouragement and registration. Their ambition earned Lækjarskóli 1st place in the 300-499 pupil category of the primary school competition.

They came, they saw, they conquered – congratulations students and staff!
The students and teachers at the school deserve a great deal of praise for their good performance. Teachers encouraged the group and helped students to log various daily activities for the competition, including walking, gymnastics, football, athletics, swimming, basketball, dancing, running and jogging, to name but a few. The primary school competition is divided into four categories based on pupil numbers and runs for two weeks from 1 to 14 February. Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the Mayor, and Geir Bjarnason, Sportsand Leisure Officer for the City of Hafnarfjörður met the pupils in the school hall at the end of the week and presented them with entertainment from the one and only, truly Hafnarfjörður's own Friðrik Dór, as a recognition of their excellent achievements and for being ambitious role models for movement and fitness in the health-promoting town of Hafnarfjörður. The Lifelapse is a health and motivational project of the Icelandic Sports and Olympic Association (ÍSÍ). where people of all ages are encouraged to consider their daily physical activity and increase it as much as possible in their leisure time, at work, at school, and when choosing their mode of transport. In the 2023 Life Course, 16,745 people from across the country took part in 1,495 teams, moving for 15,623,748 minutes over 202,264 days. Representatives from the most successful workplaces and schools received awards in the Þróttur hall in Laugardal last week.

The health-promoting town of Hafnarfjörður celebrates the participation of individuals, businesses, groups, schools and institutions in the Lífshlaupið, and hopes that the initiative for daily exercise in February will continue into the coming months and years.
