Lækjarskóli were the winners of the primary school sports competition in Hafnarfjörður this May, after a hard-fought contest between the schools, with the Year 9 pupils competing against each other.
Lækjarskóli is the winner of the primary school sports competition in Hafnarfjörður for the 2014-2015 school year. The competition was held at Kaplakriki this May. The sports events vary from year to year, but this year they were football, handball, bandy and athletics (long jump, 400m run and 200m relay). Each team is a mixed team of girls and boys, following specific rules of play.
The competition was very tough this year. Thus, Áslandsskóli won the football competition, Víðistaðaskóli the handball, Hraunvallaskóli bandy and Setbergsskóli athletics, even though Lækjarskóli had won the overall competition in accordance with the competition's scoring rules. Lækjarskóli received 30 points and therefore first place, Setbergsskóli 29 points in second place, and Hraunvallaskóli 25 points in third place.
It is the primary school PE teachers who organise the sports competition.
