The City Council of Hafnarfjörður approved at its meeting on 9 January to enter into an agreement with the Vinabær Operations Company. The aim of the service agreement between the association and the City of Hafnarfjörður is to meet the service needs of the residents and to provide them with the best possible service in specialised accommodation that can be provided at any given time. The individuals currently live at home with their parents and are engaged in both work and sport, in addition to all having completed their secondary school education.. This is a landmark agreement, unprecedented in Iceland, and we on the Hafnarfjörður Town Council are extremely proud of this agreement, the initiative of the residents and their families. I want to thank them especially for their initiative and perseverance. This group of individuals, who know each other well, are now going to set up their own home in Skarðshlíð and receive the appropriate support from their local council. It is wonderful to see this idea become a reality.„ says Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, Mayor of Hafnarfjörður, at the signing of the service agreement.
