The little beautiful nursery school trees on Thorsplan

Hafnarfjörður is a town of great traditions. One of the traditions associated with the Christmas festival is the participation of pupils from Hafnarfjörður's nurseries in decorating the small Christmas trees on Thorsplan.  The Christmas decorations have a good build-up and preparation, as they are environmentally friendly, made with care and put up with great pride.

A unique and much-welcomed Christmas decoration.

Over the past few days, the traffic of nursery school children around the Christmas town has been quite heavy. The children go on a trip around town, come to experience the Christmas lights, visit the town's museums and put the icing on the cake of the Christmas decorations in Thorsplan. The decorations attract attention, are unique and most welcome, and over the years have added a beautiful touch to the Christmas Village. Almost without exception, the pupil then returns to Thorsplan with their family in the run-up to Christmas to show off their work. After the festive season, the small Christmas trees will be put to new use as wood chippings on appropriate footpaths and walking trails in the town or its surrounding countryside.
