Love and gratitude in the leading role

News

I would like to thank my dear colleagues and you, the residents, for our collaboration and time together, for your trust and warmth over the past years. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Anticipation and expectations at Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner. Hearts are filled with anticipation, especially among the children who have high expectations of Christmas, the togetherness and the presents. They sense the festive atmosphere we have draped around these Christmas days, as we have always done. This is a time of love.

At Christmas, we show each other special affection, give gifts and enjoy the moment together. We give thanks for life and the time we are given. We show the same love and care to all those who surround us. Then we remember those we have lost who have left this life. The memories are with us, and they warm so many and bring joy.

Christmas is a time of gratitude, hope and faith in peace within us and around us. We look inward and cast our gaze near and far. We think of those who are grieving, who have suffered trauma or who are battling illness.

Let's look closer at our neighbour.

Hafnarfjörður is decorated with lights in December. The town takes on a festive air that draws people from all over. The soft, beautiful Christmas lights remind us of the warm and bright atmosphere we have created in our town. It is a good place to be and a good place to live.

Solidarity, trust and empathy are important to us, the people of Hafnarfjörður. They are the cornerstones of our community. We all need to hold on to that spirit as the town grows and changes. We show kindness and compassion. This is the same spirit that the children are asking for this Christmas. Love plays the leading role.

Tranquillity and calm before a new era begins

A new year heralds new days and new opportunities. At the turn of the year, I pass the baton for the municipal election on. Over the past few years, I have learnt that the work is best accomplished with all of you who have helped to pave the way, build and shape our community. I would like to thank my dear colleagues and fellow residents for our collaboration and time together, for your trust and warmth over the years.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.,

Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, Mayor of Hafnarfjörður
