Management and operation of the Town Cinema

Hafnarfjörður is seeking interested parties to take over the operation of Bæjarbíó, fostering a vibrant cultural programme and other activities that strengthen the venue's operations. 

Applications will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

• For the activity to enhance the cultural life in Hafnarfjörður.
• That the building hosts a diverse range of cultural activities all year round, and that organisers of cultural events can use the facilities on reasonable terms.
• Operating plans that can combine catering, events and other activities that strengthen the house's operational foundations.
• That the operations comply with the town's policy on the preservation of the house.

The bidders' application shall be accompanied by a statement of reasons for:

• Proposed cultural activities and vision for Bæjarbíó
• The applicant's experience of cultural activities and related management
• Business model showing financing
• Information about target audience and marketing

Applicants seeking to take over the running of the Bæjarbíó must be free of debt to the City of Hafnarfjörður, and up to date with public taxes and pension fund contributions.  The Culture and Tourism Committee will assess the applications and make a recommendation to the Town Council. A three-year contract will be agreed, with the possibility of an extension for up to a further three years.
