Major delay in rubbish collection

News

As of today, the collection of all waste streams, both from the grey and blue bins, is behind schedule and has been so since the period between Christmas and New Year. According to the latest information from the service provider, every effort will be made to catch up on the delay over the weekend and into next week. More detailed information will be released shortly after the weekend, including the situation in each individual neighbourhood. We thank residents for their understanding of the situation and hope that the rubbish collection service will be back on track as soon as possible.

Further information to be released immediately after the weekend.

Working outside of normal service hours to catch up on delays.

Residents have not been spared the significant disruption and delays to rubbish collection over the past few days. Initially, snowfall and poor road conditions caused delays, followed by a thaw with resulting icy conditions, as well as public holidays over the Christmas period and staff shortages. The green bin is supposed to be emptied every 14 days and the blue bin every 28 days. Every effort is being made to catch up on the delays, and information on the progress made over the weekend and the current situation at the start of the new week will be published on the council's channels on Monday.

Rubbish collection calendar on the town's website

The rubbish collection calendar on the council's website is widely used. As things stand, residents need to add 7-10 days to the dates shown. If a collection is missed, residents are encouraged to submit a feedback so that the case can be investigated. During heavy snowfall between Christmas and New Year, and on icy days after the New Year, refuse lorries were forced to turn back from narrow streets, and in some cases, these streets appear to have been completely forgotten. We would therefore be extremely grateful to hear from residents who are experiencing such errors.

Enter a street name and get dates for your home.

Thank you for your understanding!
