Numerous companies and contractors have taken part in the expansion of the area by developing commercial premises well-suited to a diverse and varied range of activities. KB Verk is one of these companies. The company's headquarters are in Álfholl in Hafnarfjörður. The Mayor of Hafnarfjörður, Valdimar Víðisson, visited the owners at the worksite to be briefed on the operations and current construction projects.
„Demand for plots, housing and industrial units in the area has been very high. The surroundings are considered beautiful and the location is good, right by a major transport artery, the Reykjanesbraut itself. We are responding to the call from contractors and are planning more plots in the area, which will hopefully be allocated as early as this autumn.“ says Valdimar.„It's great to get the opportunity to visit KB Verk, which has gained a good reputation within the town.
Specialising in the construction of commercial and residential properties
KB Verk is a construction company founded in 2017, specialising in the construction of commercial and residential properties. The owners are Kolbeinn Viðar Jónsson and Björgvin Unnar Ólafsson. Kolbeinn is a qualified dentist and works as such in his spare time, while Björgvin works as a builder. Björgvin therefore handles the main burden of the practical work, while Kolbeinn manages the business. They are brothers-in-law and say it is safe to call the company a family business.
„The youngest employee is my 14-year-old son, who works as a handyman's assistant, and the oldest is my father-in-law, who is sent on various jobs all over town. He's getting on a bit, and we're doing it as a favour for my mother-in-law.“ says Kolbeinn and grins. „In total, we have ten permanent employees, and we also have a good, established working relationship with subcontractors who specialise in all sorts of projects.
KB Verk places great emphasis on good design, professional workmanship and quality building materials. The company undertakes all types of construction work for individuals and businesses. KB Verk's current projects include, in addition to the construction of a detached house and a row of terraced houses in Ásland 4, the development of three industrial buildings in Breiðholt 3 with a total of 26 industrial units. Smaller companies take one unit, while others take an entire building, depending on their size and operations. Experience has taught the company to fit out and build the industrial units in line with the needs of each individual client. „We have the luxury problem these days of not having to advertise at all. Our website is the point of contact for clients, and our reputation is excellent. We place great emphasis on keeping the grounds around our premises tidy and attractive, and we find that our clients really appreciate it,“ says Kolbeinn.
