      Regulations No. 980 from the Ministry of Education and Culture on the recognition of primary schools run by parties other than local authorities were laid before Parliament.

      The Education Department and the Education Committee have no comments on the submitted draft.

      The Chair wishes the primary school representatives and their families a Merry Christmas.The hearing representatives for the primary schools left the meeting at 12:20.;

    • 0909013 – Nursery schools, school curricula

      Sigrún Kristinsdóttir, Headteacher, Sigríður Ólafsdóttir, Deputy Headteacher at Hraunvallaskóli, and Ragnheiður Gunnarsdóttir, Headteacher at Hamravellir, present the schools' curricula.

      The Education Committee thanks everyone for the presentations. The Chair wishes the nursery observer representatives and their families a Merry Christmas.

      The nursery school observers left the meeting at 12:55.

  • 0911604 – Green schools, grant application

    A letter from Landvernd was presented, requesting that the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður assist with the funding of the 'School on the Green Branch' in 2010.

    The Education Council refers the matter to the processing of next year's grants.;

  • 0909151 – Fire Prevention Initiative 2009, grant application

    At the Education Committee meeting on 21st September, a letter was presented from the National Association of Fire and Rescue Services requesting a financial contribution for the 2009 Fire Prevention Campaign. To be reconsidered.

    The matter was referred to the Director of Education in accordance with the discussion at the meeting. The next meeting of the Education Committee will be on Monday, 4 January 2010.
