  1. General presentations

    • Child safety with childminders

      A letter dated 1 November 2011 from the Ministry of Social Affairs was presented, drawing attention to the safety of children with childminders and the regulations on home-based childcare no. 907/2005.

      Regarding this item, the day care officer, Hildur Sigurbjörnsdóttir, attended the meeting and outlined the arrangements for supervision on behalf of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

    • Confirmation of school curricula and work plans

      To be taken up again from the last meeting.

      The Education Board approves the preschool curricula that were submitted. The Director is instructed to request that work on the curricula not yet available be completed. The Development Officer is instructed to compile the comments and draft responses to them.

    • 1110227 – SSH Future Group on Education and Expertise

      To be taken up again from the last meeting.

      The Education Council welcomes the recommendations of the Future Group.

    • 1111152 – Education Committee, Terms of Reference

      Drafts of a revised terms of reference for the education committee were presented.

      Deferred to the next meeting.

    • 1110250 – Confirmation of school curricula and work plans for primary schools.

      To take up the previous item again from the last meeting.

      The Education Board approves the school curricula of the primary schools.

    • 1110328 – Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður, enquiry

      Request for information from the Hafnarfjörður Parents' Council on the number of pupils who start and leave Hafnarfjörður's primary schools at times other than the traditional start in autumn and end in spring.

      The Education Committee instructs the Director of the Department to compile the information requested by the letter writer for the 2010-2011 academic year.$line$$line$$line$ The teachers' representative left the meeting at 9:25

    • 1111153 – Crafts and applied arts

      Representatives of the Independence Party put forward the following proposal: “It is proposed that a survey be conducted to determine whether schools are meeting the curriculum requirements for teaching time in art and craft subjects.“

      The Education Committee unanimously approves the proposal.

    • 1111150 – Flensborg School - Media Partnership

      The development officers presented a partnership between the Flensborg School's educational services and media department.

    • 0901064 – Laws and regulations, education department

      Regulation no. 1040 on the responsibilities and duties of members of the school community in primary schools was presented.

      The Education Committee requests that the town's solicitor review whether, and if so how, the new regulation on the responsibilities and duties of members of the school community in primary schools affects the work of the Education Committee. It is also requested that the lawyer examines whether the regulation necessitates changes to the council's terms of reference.

    • 1105361 – Music studies, agreement

      A letter from the Equalisation Fund for Local Authorities was presented, announcing the fund's contribution to Hafnarfjörður for advanced-level music students at the Hafnarfjörður Music School.
