  1. General presentations

    • 1112053 – Results of speed measurements in Hafnarfjörður 2008-2011

A submission from the Police dated 6th December was presented, proposing that the council assess whether it would be appropriate to increase the maximum permitted speed limit on those roads or sections of road where the collision rate exceeds 30% or, if the conditions are not deemed suitable for a speed increase, that measures be taken to reduce the speed limit through the use of a speed hump, road narrowing or other similar means. $Line$ Speed measurements in Hafnarfjörður 2008-2011 were presented.

UHU suggests that the results of the measurements are considered in light of the conditions at each location, which will be presented in the group.

    • 1110049 – Hellnahraun II - road safety

      To be taken up again.

UHU agrees with the suggestion, but it is likely that road safety in the neighbourhood will improve once the work on the kerbs and pavements is complete.

    • 1110337 – Klukkuberg 11-41 - road safety

A letter from the board of the residents' association at Klukkuberg 11–41 was submitted, drawing attention to speeding near the block and requesting improvements to the area. A speed measurement was carried out on Klukkuberg opposite the building on 9 November 2011. The highest speed recorded was 50 km/h and the average speed was 28 m/s. Klukkuberg is a 30 km/h street.

UHU agrees that a raised pedestrian crossing will be installed opposite the steps.

    • 1110052 – Breiðvangur, traffic safety

Taken up again. $line$ The speed measurements of 19 October were presented. The highest speed entering Breiðvang 34-50 was measured at 38 km/h, with an average speed of 21 km/h. Maximum speed out of Breiðvang 34-50 was 34 km/h and the average speed was 20 km/h. Breiðvangur is a 30 km/h street.

UHU do not consider there to be any reason for action at present.

    • 1110048 – Arnarhraun/Smyrlahraun - road safety

Taken up again.$line$Lay out the speed measurements of 5th and 6th October last. The highest speed north of Arnarhraun at Smyrlahraun was measured at 41 km/h and the average speed was 24 km/h. The maximum speed south of Arnarhraun at Smyrlahraun was 47 km/h and the average speed was 22 km/h. Arnarhraun is a 30 km/h road.

UHU proposes that the existing barrier at the junction is refurbished and the situation then re-evaluated.

    • 1110051 – Northern Road and adjacent streets, traffic safety

Taken up again. $line$ The speed measurements of 18th October were presented. The highest speed southbound on the Northern Route at Nönnustíg was measured at 51 km/h and the average speed was 26 km/h. The highest speed on the northbound North Road at Nönnustíg measured 53 km/h and the average speed was 31 km/h. Speed data from 10 October was presented. The highest speed on the northbound North Road between Hraunhvammur and Hraunkambs was 54 km/h, with an average speed of 28 km/h. The North Road is a 30 km/h road.
