A special area has been set up on the website. A Better Hafnarfjörður where residents can submit ideas and suggestions for areas of focus. There are three main categories on Better Hafnarfjörður, which are linked to specific key objectives. These categories and key objectives relate to:
- health, education and culture
- Society and environment
- Economy, settlement and services
Under each category, residents can easily submit their ideas for priorities, and view and like others' ideas.
Extensive consultation and dialogue on priorities
Hafnarfjörður emphasises achieving the broadest possible consultation and dialogue on the priorities, which will in turn guide the path ahead for the town. Several meetings have already been held with various groups, including the business community, council staff, representatives of young people, the elderly and immigrants. Global goals and The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child are taken into consideration and are an important guiding principle for the town in this work.
