Landsnet hf is applying for planning permission for the construction of the Suðurnesjalína 2 transmission line in Hafnarfjörður. The project is in accordance with the Hafnarfjörður Master Plan 2013-2025.

At its meeting on 24 February 2015, the Planning and Building Committee instructed the head of department to subject the application to a local consultation if the Planning Office so recommended. A report from the Planning Authority has been received, recommending that the development be subject to a local consultation in accordance with Article 13 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010, in order to give interested parties an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the development.

The first section of the line is a temporary overhead line which will run from the Hamranes substation westwards along Ásvallabraut and the Straumsvíkur lines, and onwards between Hellnahraun 2 and 3 along Suðurnesjalína 1 for a 1.5 km route to a corner mast at Hraunhella.

The average height of these masts is 13.5 m to the cross-arm (see picture on the right). From there, a 1.7 km aerial line will run south to the proposed substation at Hrauntungur, where the line is supported by freestanding steel tubes. The average height of the tubular masts to the top of the uppermost crossbeam is 25.5 m (see image for the middle).

These lines will later be buried in the ground. From there, an overhead line will run westwards to the municipal boundary of Vogar. There, the line will be on guyed steel tube pylons (see picture on the left). It will remain an overhead line.

Comments on the implementation should be submitted in writing to the Planning and Building Department of Hafnarfjörður, Strandgata 6, 220 Hafnarfjörður, or by email to the address bjarki@hafnarfjordur.is by 5th April.
