The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður, on behalf of Arnarhrauns 50 Housing Society Ltd., has entered into an agreement with Arnarhvoll Construction Company Ltd. for the construction of a 6-unit residential cluster with a communal space. Construction will begin in the coming days, with completion scheduled for March 2020.

All the detached houses are designed according to the concept of universal design, design for all – accessibility for all. This involves creating good solutions with the equality and well-being of all people as a priority, and the contractor will deliver a fully-finished property, inside and out. The Arnarhvoll proposal is based on a collaboration with architect Svava Jónsdóttir and involves six fully accessible detached houses for people with disabilities, and one detached house for the home's staff. This important project is part of the local authority's plan to increase the number of homes for disabled people. „Construction is finally beginning on the new residential development, and it is safe to say that a long-awaited milestone has been reached. It is pleasing to think that within 18 months, new and beautiful homes will be awaiting new residents who are certainly in need of them.“ says Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, Mayor of Hafnarfjörður, at the signing of an agreement with Arnarhvol. A new residential complex is to be built on Öldugata, and a tender for this is now being advertised.
