New equality plan
A new equality plan for the City of Hafnarfjörður is now available. The plan covers six areas, each of which is clearly defined with objectives, actions, responsibilities and a timeframe.
At the beginning of the year
Input was requested from residents and other interested parties on the subject of
the City of Hafnarfjörður's equality policy and equality plan. A new plan is now before us, and work on the equality policy is also well underway. The aim of
The City of Hafnarfjörður's equality plan is to promote gender equality and to
Gender and equality perspectives will be integrated into all the council's activities.
The action plan is based on the Act on Equality between Women and Men and
the equality policy of the City of Hafnarfjörður, which was approved by the City Council on the 1st.
February 2012 and the European Charter on the Equal Status of Women and Men in Local Authorities
and regions which were signed in 2008.
An equality plan addresses, among other things, the following aspects:
- Equal pay
- Vacancies, job training and
Further education - Flexibility to adapt
Family life and working life - Sexual harassment, sexual harassment,
Gender-based violence and bullying - Working against discrimination in the workplace and
Opportunities for people with different abilities increased - Emphasis on the integration of gender perspectives in everything
the town's work

A well-defined project with objectives, actions, responsibilities and a timescale.
