New headteacher of the Music School
Eiríkur G. Stephensen has been appointed headteacher of the Hafnarfjörður Music School. Eiríkur has spent most of his career as headteacher of the Eyjafjörður Music School, where he oversaw the work and development of music teaching in three schools in Eyjafjarðarsýsla.
Eiríkur G. Stephensen has been appointed Head of the Hafnarfjörður Music School. Eiríkur has spent most of his career as Head of the Eyjafjörður Music School, where he managed and developed music education across three schools in the Eyjafjarðarsveit municipality. In addition, Eiríkur has worked as a brass teacher and conducted various brass bands. Eiríkur holds a brass teaching qualification with the trumpet as his principal instrument, as well as a degree from the theory department of the Reykjavík Music School.
Eiríkur completed a Master's degree in Education and Cultural Management, with a focus on Educational Management, from the University of Bifröst in 2017. Eiríkur has composed music for plays and musicals, and is a member of the band „Hundur í óskilum“, which is well-known to many in the country. Eiríkur has also served on the board of the Association of Music School Teachers, the Association of Music School Principals, and has been active in the music schools' associations. A total of eight applications for the post were received, but one was withdrawn. Eiríkur will start work on 1 October.
