The camping equipment must now disappear from the school car parks.

This summer, as in the last two summers, the option was available to park any kind of recreational vehicle that has been in use this summer in the car parks of, for example, Hafnarfjörður's primary schools and Flensborg School. The start of the school term is now approaching, and school staff are already beginning to return to work. Trailers are beginning to be left behind, and the owners of these vehicles are kindly asked to remove them immediately to avoid any further action.

Police By-law for the Borough of Hafnarfjörður

Regarding vehicles and traffic, the Police Ordinance of the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður states that: “… on public roads, nothing may be placed or set down that obstructs traffic. It is forbidden to park vehicles on pavements, open spaces, undeveloped plots of land and paths. The parking of trailers and caravans, such as horseboxes, caravans, trailers, trailers for boats and similar equipment, as well as motorhomes deemed to cause inconvenience, unsanitary conditions or a hazard, is prohibited on streets and public car parks. The Environmental and Planning Service is authorised, following prior warning, e.g. by means of a sticker with a warning message, to remove and impound vehicles that contravene paragraphs 1–5 of the Municipal Police Ordinance, vehicles left without number plates on land adjacent to public thoroughfares, streets and public car parks, and vehicles left abandoned in open areas. The registered owner and/or the person in charge shall be notified of the removal and shall bear the cost of the removal and storage of the vehicle.
