Employment-related summer programme for young people with disabilities

Verkherinn is a work-related summer programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity. Most people enter the general labour market at some point in their lives. The Verkhérinn summer programme is good preparation for the future and gives young people the opportunity to try working in jobs and take part in a fun course. Verkherinn takes place at Húsinu, at 14 Suðurgata, 220 Hafnarfjörður. The entrance is on the Strandgata side.

Who can apply for a job at Verkhernum?

Young people with disabilities or reduced functional ability, aged 16–20, can apply to Verkhernum. Work takes place in the mornings on all weekdays. Young people are also offered the opportunity to take part in social or leisure activities in the afternoons.

What is done in the Workshop?

Work is carried out in partnership with local businesses. In recent years, Verkherinn has collaborated with, for example, Krambúðin, the Hafnarfjörður Library, nurseries, the town's swimming pools, and others. Individualised work is also available, where tasks are tailored to the needs and work capacity of each individual.

The Age of the Worker

The work camp runs from 22 May to 11 August. Days and weeks can be split across the entire period, or you can take all the weeks at once. 16-17 year-olds are allocated 6 weeks and 17-20 year-olds are allocated 8 weeks.
