Over 3000 have taken to the ice in the heart of Hafnarfjörður

The ice rink will be open until at least the end of January. 

During Advent, the long-held dream of many for a skating rink in the health-conscious town of Hafnarfjörður became a reality when Heart swelling was opened in partnership with Bæjarbíó. The Heart Rink has been very well received, and over 3,000 people of all ages have been ice skating since it opened in mid-December. The rink is a fantastic activity, experience and workout for the whole family and will be open at least from Thursday to Sunday throughout January. You can book a skate session at heart-swelling.is but the first journeys are free on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Heart Rink is a 200-square-metre ice rink in the car park directly behind Bæjarbíó. The rink, which was named the Heart Rink from the outset, is a fantastic addition to the entertainment and experiences already available in Hafnarfjörður for the whole family. The Heart Rink is an environmentally friendly artificial rink where no water or electricity is used to freeze the ice, and its production is also environmentally friendly.

Key information

• The rink is open Thursdays 2-8 pm, Fridays 2-10 pm, Saturdays 1-10 pm and Sundays 1-8 pm.
• Free entry to the ice rink at 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. 
• Each skating session is 40 minutes and starts on the hour.
• A skating trip is booked on tix.is – The Heart Swell and skate hire booked at the same time
• People are asked to arrive in good time to avoid queues.
• Only 20 get on the ice every hour
