Enchanting Heart Lava in the heart of Hafnarfjörður

From 14 November to 23 December 2025, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with Bæjarbíó, will operate Hjartasvellið, a 200 m² ice rink for people of all ages. The rink was first opened in the run-up to Christmas 2021, and thousands have enjoyed skating together in the heart of Hafnarfjörður since then. The Heart Rink is located on Ráðhústorg, in front of Bæjarbíó and the Hafnarfjörður Library, thus pleasantly connecting the Christmas Village in the town centre with the light display in Hellisgerði. It's ideal to pop into the Hafnarfjörður Library after a skate, to warm up with a cup of tea and browse a book.

Come skating – a perfect family time

The Heart Rink is 100% eco-friendly, as no water or electricity is used to freeze it. The rink is built on specially designed synthetic ice plates which have the same properties as real ice, offering great fun, an experience and exercise for the whole family. Skating sessions are on sale at tickets.is, Skates and a helmet are included. Each skate session is 40 minutes long and starts on the hour. It is important to arrive on time to avoid queues. You can buy up to eight sessions for 5,000 kr in a special family package, and the discount is calculated automatically in the shopping basket.
