Group activity for young people with disabilities in Years 9 to 11
The group activity is designed for 13-16 year-old young people with disabilities who need additional social support and want to join a group where they have the opportunity to get to know their peers.
The aim of the programme is to enhance self-esteem, social skills and relationship-building in a safe and encouraging environment. We will have a varied programme that aims to empower participants on their own terms.
Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that the young people have a say in the programme, can express their opinions, and help to prepare the group's activities.
How do I apply
You need to apply for the group activities on this site, and a parent or guardian will be contacted after the application has been submitted. A discussion with the parent or guardian, a representative from the family and children's services, and a Mosa staff member ensures that the best possible preparation is made and that participation is as enjoyable as possible.
When and where
The group activity starts on 15 January and will run for 6 weeks at a time. The group meets once a week from 19:45 to 21:45 at Mosinn, the youth centre at Hraunvallaskóli.
Supervision
Petra Hjartardóttir, a special educational needs teacher at Hraunvallaskóli, runs the activity together with the staff of Mosinn.
