Hardworking residents of Hafnarfjörður support healthcare in Lebanon
The children at the nursery school on Norðurberg in Hafnarfjörður are exceptionally imaginative and full of love. They proved this this week when they visited the Red Cross in Hafnarfjörður with an unexpected treat.
The children had collected bottles to return for recycling, and the deposit totalled a whopping 25,068 krónur. The children felt this amount would be put to good use in Lebanon, where the Icelandic Red Cross supports a mobile health clinic. The project provides essential and often life-saving healthcare to refugees living in Lebanon. The vast majority of them are from Syria. Currently, there are up to 1.5 million refugees from Syria living in Lebanon. The children's donation from Nordberg helps to make their lives better.
