Price below average

The ASÍ price monitoring is currently examining changes in the price of local council charges. The day care fee for Hafnarfjörður's leisure centres is among the lowest overall, at just 3,146 króna below the lowest fee and 8,669 króna below the highest. The average price for day care across all municipalities is 19,402 kr., whereas the price in Hafnarfjörður is 17,311 kr. 

At the start of the year, the ASÍ Price Surveillance Department investigated changes to fee schedules for school-age day care, including refreshments and lunch, in the fifteen most populous municipalities in the country. Twelve of the fifteen municipalities have increased their fee schedule for day care with refreshments year-on-year. This also applies to the City of Hafnarfjörður, which increased its fee schedule by 4.51%, in line with increases across the board and thus in line with changes in prices and wages. The City of Hafnarfjörður did not increase its fees at the turn of the year 2014-2015 and this year, despite the increase, has the second-lowest fees for school-age childcare in the Greater Reykjavík Area. The municipality is ranked 7th out of 15 in an overview of the municipalities, an overview based on a graduated ranking of fees for the service.
