Kindergartens in Hafnarfjörður have introduced improved working hours based on a 36-hour working week for all staff. Staff in the Kindergarten Teachers' Association have opted for an arrangement whereby their academic year is comparable to that of primary school teachers. These employees therefore take their reduced working hours around Christmas and New Year, during the winter holidays in primary schools, in the week before Easter, and through extended time off in the summer.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Working with the upbringing and education of nursery school children
- Taking part in the planning of professional work
- Participating in parent collaboration in consultation with the Head of Year
- Other duties as described in the job description.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Teaching licence (attached)
- Experience in childcare or teaching young children is desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Initiative in work and professional ambition
- Independent and organised working methods
- Good knowledge of Icelandic
