A new feedback portal for the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður was launched in March 2020 and is already receiving close to 150 suggestions each month from interested residents who care about their environment and the town as a whole. All suggestions are processed through a specific procedure in the relevant department, depending on their subject matter and nature. Some suggestions can be dealt with quickly and definitively, but the processing and decisions for larger suggestions may take longer.

Through Hafnarfjörður's feedback portal residents can easily submit any kind of feedback. It is simple to send a photo with the feedback, and it is possible to send the location on a map if applicable. The feedback portal works very well on smart devices, and residents are encouraged to use their phone if they notice anything that could be improved in our environment, services, or anything else they wish to bring to the attention of the staff of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

Each and every suggestion will help us to make the service even better. A clear complaints procedure has been established. The service desk staff review the feedback, respond or route it appropriately within 24 hours on all working days. The sender receives an email as soon as a response is available. A more powerful suggestion portal in development in collaboration with several municipalities.

This portal is the result of good collaboration between staff in all departments of the town, but the model for the portal is based on that of the City of Reykjavík. Although this stage has been completed, this is only the first version of the feedback portal, as the City of Hafnarfjörður is collaborating with three other municipalities; Reykjavík, Kópavogur and Árborg, about the further development of the feedback portal with a robust back-end system and a connection to My Pages. The project is the first of hopefully many where municipalities join forces to build powerful digital solutions that improve services and the quality of life for residents.
