Reflective vests available for anyone interested

Reflective badges from the City of Hafnarfjörður are now available at the City of Hafnarfjörður's service centre and at the Hafnarfjörður Library for interested people of all ages.  The reflectors were produced and given as a gift to all six-year-olds in the autumn of 2019 when they started primary school. Due to popular demand, it was decided to produce more reflectors, which are now available to everyone. Overall, the aim of making the reflective stickers widely available is to increase the safety of everyone on the roads and to improve the visibility of Hafnarfjörður residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður on their journeys around the town.

Parents and guardians should be role models for their children.

Now that the days are getting shorter, it is essential to consider the dangers that darkness can bring. Reflective markings on clothing and lights on bicycles increase safety and visibility and are of immense importance in the conditions that arise during the winter months, in the dark and on icy roads. The police regularly remind people of the necessity of using reflective materials and actively encourage parents and guardians to ensure their children use them, specifically to increase safety and visibility on the roads. The encouragement also extends to adults and their use of reflective items. Parents and guardians should be role models for children in this, as in many other things. The Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður aims with this initiative to make reflective markings accessible to all interested parties, and reminds everyone that it is best to place them at the top of the sleeves, hanging down the sides, on shoes, or at the bottom of trouser legs. The more reflective material in more places, the better.

The reflector stickers can be collected from reception during the opening hours of the service desk and the Hafnarfjörður Library.
