Lækjargata Renovation

The renovation works on Lækjargata are continuing and have now reached the next phase. Lækjargata is now closed from Strandgata to Austurgata, with associated traffic disruption until December. The project will involve replacing all the pipes, as well as resurfacing the road and pavements.

They will be set up. Diversion signs during the work to facilitate traffic in the area. From Reykjavikurvegur, a diversion is via Linnetstígur and Hverfisgata, while from Lækjargata the diversion is via Hverfisgata and Tjarnarbraut. The contractor is Grafa og grjót ehf. and the project is being supervised by Strendingur ehf.

The closure on Lækjargata affects the Strætó routes that run along Lækjargata, and the buses are taking diversion routes to and from the Firði interchange station. Here is a list of all the changes to Strætó routes due to the works:

The stop on Lækjargata will be out of service for all routes.

Route 1 will run along Strandgata instead of Lækjargata and Hringbraut. 
Stops on Hringbraut will be out of service for route 1, but passengers are advised to take route 21 from Hringbraut in Fjörð as a connection to route 1. Route 1 will also stop at the stops on Strandgata, at Fjörukrána and Flensborgartorg.

Route 21 will run along Hringbraut and Strandgata instead of Lækjargata. 
Bus stops on Hringbraut will be activated for route 21.

Route 33 runs along Hringbraut and Strandgata instead of Lækjargata.
Bus stops on Hringbraut will be activated for route 33.

· Route 34 Strandgata and Hringbraut instead of Lækjargata
The stop at Greenukinn will be activated for route 34, and the trams will stop there.

Route 43 runs along Hringbraut and Strandgata instead of Lækjargata.
Bus stops on Hringbraut will be activated for route 43.

Route 44 runs along Strandgata and Hringbraut to Selvogsgata.
The stops at Grænukinn and Flensborg will be inactive. Passengers can catch route 44 at the stop in Selvogsgata.
