Playground improvements in the north of the town
Hafnarfjörður has numerous and varied playgrounds and football pitches, and each year their maintenance and renewal is carried out according to a specific priority list. In recent weeks, improvements have been made to playgrounds and football pitches across the town. Staff from the Service Centre have been working on these projects with contractors.
This year, there has been a great deal of work renovating the open playgrounds in the town, to get them into their best possible condition. Among the most recent in the northern part of the town are the play and football pitch between Breiðvang and Heiðvang, as well as the football pitch between Víðivang and Hjallabraut.

The playground's surface was resurfaced with rubber paving slabs and artificial grass. The play equipment was also painted, and a new spring-mounted play unit was installed. The football pitch, which was previously a gravel pitch with a rough surface, was laid with a finer material and then turfed, and two new goals were also installed.
