Report on the future use of Víðistaðatún

News

A working group on the future use of Víðistaðatún recently concluded its work and submitted a report on the many opportunities within the Víðistaðatún area. The report includes a three-year action plan.

Among the main proposals are:

  • to put up more play equipment
  • To set up a barbecue area for groups and increase the number of benches and tables there.
  • Demarcate an area for golf/mini-golf to be run from the Scout Centre.
  • Light up the sledge run below the church in the winter.

Consideration should be given to keeping certain open areas unchanged so that the field can be used for various events and, if necessary, to expand the campsite. It is also proposed that the Scouts be granted permission to set up a „Scout obstacle course“ near the Scout Centre.

To take over the woodland there, lay down gravel paths, introduce evergreen plants and install benches.

Most of the group's proposals were put forward at a public meeting held this spring.
