King Winter has arrived, and with the current conditions, some icy patches have formed on streets, footpaths and car parks throughout the town. The City of Hafnarfjörður's Service Centre is responsible for snow clearance and gritting, but contractors are also called in during periods of high demand. The general service hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., but these are dictated by the weather and road conditions. In such weather, the service begins very early and ends late.

Sand is available at Norðurhellu 2

Residents of Hafnarfjörður can collect sand from the Service Centre at Norðurhellu 2. The change is that residents now need to bring their own containers (reusable bags, buckets, or trays) to collect the sand. In recent years, plastic bags and shovels have been available on site, but from now on, only sand and a shovel will be provided. This change is in line with the City of Hafnarfjörður's stated environmental policy, which aims to reduce plastic use.

We encourage residents to be aware of their local area and to assist with sandbagging to ensure the safety of everyone. Thank you in advance for your participation!
