SMT School Skills is a methodology for promoting a positive school climate by using positive approaches to learn about relationships and behaviour in school. An example of this is the following news report from Öldutúnsskóli.

„At Öldutúnsskóli, we work according to the SMT school model. We practise social skills and give positive behaviour increased attention with targeted praise and rewards. We have clear guidelines to guide us and we foster good communication. This creates an even better learning environment for both pupils and teachers. The school's rules are clear and visible so that both pupils and teachers know very well what is expected of them. The school rules are taught at the beginning of each term and are reviewed as necessary.

Students in each class at the school agree on their own class rules and display them in a prominent place in their classroom. In the picture you can see the class rules that the children in 5th Grade J agreed on.  They then made self-portraits which they place around the rules, as a symbol of their commitment to collectively abide by them.“
