Pre-registration for school gardens

This summer, children aged 7–12 have priority for the school gardens of the City of Hafnarfjörður. Registration opened on the first day of summer and closes on 14 May. After that date, everyone else with a permanent residence in Hafnarfjörður will have the opportunity to rent a garden.

Children aged 7–12 (born 2004–2009) have priority to register for the school catchment areas of Hafnarfjörður municipality. Registration opened on the first of May and closes on 14 May. After that time, opportunities will be available.
All others with a permanent residence in Hafnarfjörður have the opportunity to rent a garden.

The school gardens are on
at the following places:

  • At Víðistaðir, tel. 664-5769
  • Top of Öldugata, tel. 664-5772
  • Below Lyngbarð s. 664-5770
  • In Mosahlíð, tel. 664-5733 
  • Vellir 664-5733

Participation fee: kr. 4,600. A 50% sibling discount is available. Each person is allocated two plots: one for vegetables and another for potatoes. Potatoes and vegetables are included in the price for everyone.

Summer opening hours for the gardens

The gardens will be open from 1st to 8th June.
from 13:00-17:00. From 9th - 22nd June, the gardens will be open from 08:30-12:00 and 13:00 – 16:30. From 23 June – 12 August, the gardens will then be open from 10:00 – 15:00. These times are subject to change. 

Harvest Day in August

On Friday, 12th August, it will be harvest day in the School Gardens and then
will be open from 13:00 – 18:00. On that day, all parents/guardians are encouraged to attend with their children.
