Leisure grant

Harbour Fjordprofitable Supports children's sports and leisure activities from three to eighteen years old age about up to 65 thousand krónur a year. Children aged three to five Year-olds get half strength as parents or guardians to act electronically. 

Utilisation of strength

Fparents or guardians can choose to use leisure grant í through Abler when they Register a child electronically for an activity at a sports and leisure club who are thereHCould is to choose the amount of the grant on each occasion, as determined by the balance. The societies can be in or outside Hafnarfjörður. Students studying music can also use the leisure grant.  

Sports club did not show up

You can apply for a grant for associations that do not appear in Abler. Such an application can be found on the My Pages section of the Hafnarfjörður City website, provided the association has a contract with the City of Hafnarfjörður. You can contact customer service by phone. 585 5500 or on hafnarfjordur@hafnarfjordur.is to check whether the company has a contract with the City of Hafnarfjörður. 

When is a child entitled to a grant?

A child is entitled to a grant from 1 January of the year in which they become 3 years of age and until 31 December of the year in which they turn 18. The grant is paid as suits the families on each occasion, up to 65 thousand krónur for 6-18 years old but 32,500 krónur For children aged 3-5. 

Strength over the summer

No distinction is made between summer and winter. The leisure allowance is valid at all times.f for a course that to comply with the rules and last for 10 weeks or longer.  

Amount of leisure grants for 3-5 year olds 

Children aged three to five receive an annual leisure allowance of 32,500 krónur. The aim of the leisure grant for this age group is to make it easier for children to find a sport or leisure activity that suits them.  

Amount of leisure grants for 6-18 year olds 

As soon as a person turns 18, they must manage their own support with their electronic identity card; parents can no longer see the support under their account. The leisure grant may be used at any time during the year, regardless of the number of activities. 

  • Children aged 6 to 18 receive 65,000 krónur. 
  • The grant must be allocated between 1 January and 31 December. 

Youth fitness card for 14-18 year-olds 

  • A grant may be provided for the purchase of gym memberships for young people aged 14-18. 
  • Based on year of birth. Three to twelve-month gym memberships are eligible. Fitness centres must meet requirements for member education and professionalism in their operations. 

Eligible leisure activity 

The course/activity must last for at least 10 consecutive weeks for the activity to be considered eligible for funding. The activities must be based on educational and preventative values and be conducted under the supervision of a qualified professional in the field of sport and/or leisure. Unused funding does not carry over to the next year.
