Music and motor
You don't need to be a petrolhead or a musician to attend. Everyone is welcome at Musik og Mótor!
The musical situation
Músík og mótor is a free facility in Hafnarfjörður for young musicians to practise, compose, produce and work on music. The venue has music rooms and rehearsal facilities for musicians and bands aged 13–25. The facility is accessible to everyone. A member of staff is on site to provide assistance between 18:00 and 22:00 every Monday and Wednesday, and on alternate Fridays.
Bands and others creating music can come to our recording studio to record their own material with guidance. History has shown that the Music House is an excellent springboard for young and promising bands who are taking their first or second steps into the highly entertaining world of music.

The Garage
The motor workshop will open soon at the Quarter Mile Club. Quarter mile, 1 Quarter Mile Track, 221 Hafnarfjörður.
There is also a motor workshop in the building where all work related to cars, motorbikes and bicycles can be carried out. All the main tools are available and staff experienced in repairs are on hand to assist.
The ideology
Emphasis is placed on ensuring that all the core principles of the Music and Motor activities are based on the initiative, ideas and interests of young people. Emphasis is also placed on diversity in the work, where individuals learn and experience life in different ways.
Everyone should feel comfortable at their workplace. This is a prerequisite for being able to focus on other goals and for young people to be able to pursue their interests. Young people should be given the opportunity to work on their own ideas and staff should support them in this work. Staff should be good role models and young people can turn to them for information and advice.
