What does the Hafnarfjörður Youth Council do?

The Hafnarfjörður Youth Council is a safe platform for secondary and primary school pupils to express their opinions.

The council gives young people the opportunity to express their opinions on issues concerning children and young people.

This council has had an impact on the daily lives of young people, but in recent years it has submitted proposals to the town council, for example to have sanitary towels in the school toilets and to request more sex education in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools.

The youth council is also keen to take part in all sorts of projects. They have attended conferences such as Young People and Democracy, the Farsældarþing conference at Harpa, and other projects, for example, trips to Tartu, Höfn in Hornafjörður, and the Althingi.
