Consultative Group on the Affairs of Disabled People
A consultation group that safeguards the interests of people with disabilities in Hafnarfjörður and acts as their advocate regarding the town's services.
The Consultative Group on the Affairs of Disabled People provides advice to the local council and its agencies. The council consists of three main representatives and three substitutes, elected by the town council. Disability interest groups also nominate four representatives and four substitutes. The secretary is a member of staff from the Family and Children's Services department of the City of Hafnarfjörður.
The role of the advisory group on the affairs of disabled people is to be a forum for cooperation and development concerning their interests. The aim of the advisory group's work is to improve services for disabled people in Hafnarfjörður through their active involvement in the planning and shaping of the service, in cooperation with the town council and the committees and boards of Hafnarfjörður.
