Apply for adviceThe aim of social counselling is to help people to help themselves and to promote an improved quality of life for residents. All residents of Hafnarfjörður over the age of 18 can apply for social advice.
Social workers help people with personal and social problems and provide information about social rights. Among other things, social workers help people to access social resources.

Parents can receive specialised divorce counselling in Hafnarfjörður to promote better co-parenting. The counselling places the child's best interests at the forefront and is provided to prevent or reduce conflict between parents who are separating or have separated. It is not the separation itself that causes the most harm, but rather how it is handled in front of the children.
Cooperation after divorce (Cooperation after divorce (SES)) was originally developed in Denmark. Research has shown a difference in the well-being of those who take part in the programme and those who do not. The curriculum is designed to help parents cope with the changes and challenges that are common following a divorce or separation.
