6 shows this weekend!

It's all systems go for the Year 10 students performing the musical Matilda. The first of six performances is on Friday, 26th April.

All the students in the year group take part in the show in some way, as it is part of the school's performing arts. Students have the opportunity to act, sing, dance, and to work on the set, sound, lighting, costumes and marketing, to name but a few. Many people take on more than one role in this production. But for a production of this scale to become a reality, the help and support from parents and businesses here in Hafnarfjörður is vital.

Matilda by Roald Dahl

The musical Matilda Based on the well-known story by Roald Dahl, it is about the gifted girl Matilda, who has a great imagination and loves to read books. Her parents, however, are very different from her. They are ignorant and uncouth in both speech and behaviour. Matilda goes to a school where the headmistress is an absolute nightmare, maintaining discipline through oppression and torture. Matilda is talented and brave, and uses various tricks to overcome the injustice both at home and at school.

The directors are Guðrún Heiða Sigurgeirsdóttir and María Gunnarsdóttir, and the musical will be premiered on Friday, 26th April at Setbergsskóli. The entrance is via the school's junior common room. There will be six performances, and only during this one weekend.

Tickets are on sale at midix.is.
