Schools open and parents asked to accompany their younger children
It is gratifying how well the more than 180 incidents that arose in the greater capital region due to the storm and other weather disturbances were handled overnight. The light traffic made the job much easier for the emergency services, allowing them to carry out their duties quickly and safely. Residents deserve praise for following the advice to get home early yesterday and for staying at home while the storm was at its worst. THANK YOU!
We accompany our children to school and take our time.
Some disruption to the start of the school day is expected. Schools are open, but parents are asked to accompany younger children to school and not to leave them until they are in the safe hands of staff. Delays are to be expected, so it may take longer to get to school.
