Singing Festival at Hafnarborg will be held for the sixth time on 18 June–10 July 2022. The festival is dedicated to classical music, poetry, opera and choral singing.
Singing Festival at Hafnarborg will be held for the sixth time on 18 June–10 July 2022. The festival is dedicated to classical music, poetry, opera and choral singing. The festival's aim is to honour classical vocal music and to increase public awareness of the art of the voice through concerts and courses.
This year's Singing Festival at Hafnarborg will feature eight concerts with outstanding singers and musicians, as well as a variety of courses for children and adults, for amateurs and professionals alike. The founders and directors of the Song Festival are mezzo-soprano Guðrún Jóhanna Ólafsdóttir and guitarist Francisco Javier Jáuregui. Tickets are now on sale at Tix.is.

pretty girl. The Barbara Choir, conducted by Gudmundur Sigurðsson, performs a new
Icelandic choral music.

Masterclass student concert. Students on a masterclass course
The Diddúas perform songs and arias. Helga Bryndís Magnúsdóttir accompanies on the piano.
24.6. 17:00 – Family concert. John
Svavar Jósefsson, baritone, and Kristján Hrannar Pálsson, pianist, perform
a lively programme. Children from the music and art courses will also be performing.
25.6. 17:00 – Opera gala. Alexander
Jarl Þorsteinsson, tenor; Bjarni Thor Kristinsson, bass; Eyrún Unnarsdóttir
soprano, Kristín Sveinsdóttir mezzo-soprano and Hrönn Þráinsdóttir pianist
perform arias and ensemble pieces from various beloved operas.

soprano, Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir mezzo-soprano and CAPUT conducted by Guðni
Franzsons premiere a new work by Kolbein Bjarnason to poems by

Sonor Ensemble (string quintet and piano) which is composed
Musicians from the Spanish Symphony Orchestra perform Spanish and Portuguese
Music. Guðrún Jóhanna Ólafsdóttir, mezzo-soprano, and Francisco Javier Jáuregui
Guitarists perform under the direction of Luis Aguirre at concerts inspired by
of Magellan and Elcano's first circumnavigation 500 years ago.
All the concerts take place in the main hall.
