Fees for containers

Landowners with containers on their plots must now apply for a siting permit for the containers. Payment is made for one year at a time. Those who pay by 15 May receive a 10% discount on the fee.

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has decided to introduce a procedure for charging a standing fee on containers, in accordance with section 2.6.1 of the Building Regulations No. 112/2012 and the regulations on position permits, which were approved by the Hafnarfjörður Town Council on 20 January 2016. The fee is for one year at a time, and the first charging period is from 1 May 2016 to 30 April 2017.

One charge for all sizes of containers

It has been decided that a single fee will be charged for all container sizes, which is a change from what was previously stated. According to the fee schedule for licensing and services of the building control and planning officers in Hafnarfjörður, effective from 4 January 2016, the fee will be Kr. 31,780 Landowners with containers on their plots must apply for a position permit, and those who apply before 15 May 2016 will receive a 10% discount on the fees. Full charges will be applied to all containers requiring a permit after 15 May 2016. This applies to all plot holders of commercial, industrial and residential properties, with the exception of those plot holders who have a designated container area in accordance with the planning permission. A charge is made for containers that remain for more than 2 months at a time.
