Pavements renewed at Seltún
On Wednesday, 15th October, work will begin to renovate the final trails at Seltún in Krysuvík. As a result, part of the trails will be closed to the public. Plant machinery and workers will be in the area. Members of the public are asked to exercise caution.
The work is expected to last for around two months, but the project itself began four years ago. Now, the finishing touches are being put to it. On completion of the work, all paths and bridges in the area will have been renewed. In addition, the service has been improved. Heating and electricity have been installed in the toilets, which will now be open until 1 December, instead of mid-October previously. The toilet facilities are closed from December to 1 March.
One of the country's most beautiful natural gems
Seltún is in Krýsuvík. It is a very active area of volcanic craters and boreholes. There are walking trails, and both wooden and gravel paths have been renewed with funding from the Visitor Centre Development Fund in recent years.
Krysuvík is one of Iceland's most beautiful natural gems, and the diverse colours of nature in the geothermal area at Seltún captivate many. The maintenance of paths and the development of walking trails at this popular tourist site is a priority for the City of Hafnarfjörður, and there are plans for further development of facilities in the area in the coming years.
Yes, after the renovation, it will certainly be great fun to visit Seltún!
