Summer jobs available
The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður is seeking to hire staff for the summer of 2015. A variety of positions within the municipality are available for application. Applications are submitted online. The application deadline is 6 April 2016.
Hafnarfjörður is looking for hardworking and energetic individuals for summer employment. Positions are available for squad leaders, instructors and assistant instructors at sports and play camps and in school gardens, as well as roles in environmental and gardening courses. The requirement for employment is that the applicant is a resident of Hafnarfjörður, and the salary is in accordance with the pay agreement between the City of Hafnarfjörður and the relevant trade union.
The minimum age for applicants for the following positions is 21 years (born 1995):
- Group leaders at the Work School
- Instructors at sports and games courses
- Guides in school gardens
Age of applicants for the following positions: 18-20 years old (born 1996-1998):
- Horticulture and Environment Classes
The age of applicants for the following positions is 17-20 years old (1996-1999):
- Assistant instructors at sports and games courses

Creative Summer Jobs
This summer, individuals and groups aged 18-20 have the opportunity to come up with ideas for creative projects in Hafnarfjörður. Selected groups will have the opportunity to work for around 8 weeks, from 1 June to 24 July, on projects to liven up the town centre and delight tourists and residents with all sorts of initiatives. The staff of the Creative Summer Jobs, run as part of the Hafnarfjörður Summer School, are tasked with bringing the town to life, making it more fun, beautiful and diverse with artistic and creative events. The projects need to be varied and appeal to different age groups and interests.
In addition electronic application A written application is required. Written applications must be submitted to Vinnuskólinn, Hrauntunga 5 or to the email address. vinnuskoli@hafnarfjordur.is by 15th April. Applicants must have been born between 1996 and 1998 and be resident in Hafnarfjörður.
