All children who can read on their own are invited to take part in the summer reading programme at Hafnarfjörður Library, which runs from 1 June to 18 August. All reading diaries received by or on the harvest festival on 2 September will be entered into a draw for prizes. 

All children who are able to read by themselves are invited to take part in the Hafnarfjörður Library's summer reading programme, which runs from 1 June to 18 August.

Summer reading – arrangements

  1. Sign up for the summer reading programme with a member of staff at the reception desk or on the children's floor and get a reading diary.
  2. Read some ridiculously fun book, comic book, audiobook or magazine.
  3. Get a stamp in your reading diary.
  4. The staff will give you a participation ticket for 'Reader of the Week'.
  5. In the box at the bottom of the entry form, write a review of the book or draw a fun picture. 
  6. Put the form in the red postbox on the children's floor.
  7. Each week throughout the summer, we will draw one lucky participant who will be crowned Reader of the Week and receive a book prize.
  8. The more books you read, the better your chances of winning!
  9. After 18th August, you bring your reading diary to the library and get a treat. 
  10. All reading diaries received before or on the Harvest Festival on 2 September will be put into a prize draw. 

A more detailed programme for the harvest festival will be announced later.
