The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður will receive almost 23.5 million krónur from the Municipal Equalisation Fund to support music education in the next school year. The grant is an increase of almost 2 million krónur on the previous year.
Support for musicians
The Minister of the Interior has approved the recommendation of the advisory committee of the Municipal Equalisation Fund for the allocation of grants to strengthen music education and to equalise the disadvantages faced by pupils during the 2024-2025 school year.
It appears on the website of the Cabinet Office that the allocation, amounting to 707.1 million króna, is made on the basis of paragraph 2 of Article 1 of the regulations on grants for instrumental study at the postgraduate level and for singing study at the intermediate and postgraduate levels, as most musicians pursue this course of study in the capital.
