The young composer and singer Sveinn Ísak Kristinsson, better known by his stage name, Svenný, has been playing charming and sweet tunes all over Hafnarfjörður this summer at so-called pop-up concerts. Svenný plays the piano and sings her own original songs. She has been holding short concerts, which typically last for around half an hour, for residents and visitors in public gardens, cafés, the Hafnarfjörður Library and care homes.

Sveinn says the artist name, Svenný, is relatively recent, but the name came about from a blend of his first name and a journey of self-discovery regarding gender and gender neutrality.
Music has always played a big part in Sveinn's life.
The songwriter has been writing his own music for over five years, but music has always played a big part in his life. Sveinn has, among other things, played the piano for 10 years, sung in a choir at primary and secondary school, been a group leader for the Hafnarfjörður Arts Group and been involved in various musicals.
Svenný's creativity is certainly not in hiding when the audience gets to hear the great passion and depth that accompanies her performance. After all, she composes one song every week throughout the summer, as well as premiering it for the audience weekly. When it comes to the creative process for new songs, Svenný starts by letting the inspiration come through her piano playing. From there, lyrics that enhance the experience occasionally emerge, but her songs are also often enjoyed through pure piano playing.
Releasing their first song at the end of the summer
Creative summer jobs have opened many doors for this young and talented musician, who we will no doubt be hearing a lot more from in the near future. At the end of the summer, Svenný will release her first song. Anyone interested will be able to access it on Spotify and all major streaming platforms. Creative summer jobs with the City of Hafnarfjörður are part of the summer programme for the Hafnarfjörður Work School. Creative summer jobs are advertised separately, and individuals and groups are invited to submit ideas for creative projects with their application. These projects are designed to bring even more life to the town over the summer, making it more fun, beautiful and diverse through artistic and creative events. Particular attention is paid to the diversity of projects and ensuring they appeal to different age groups and interests. The selected groups will then have the opportunity to liven up the social scene and entertainment in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, delighting tourists and residents with all sorts of initiatives. Street Music with Svenný is one of these projects. Eight other creative projects are being run by the Hafnarfjörður Work School this year, and these projects will also be featured on the council's media channels.
