Swimming enthusiasts can see out the old year and welcome the new one in an innovative way this year. „We are setting up a sauna cabin on Herjólfsgata by Langeyrarmalir so that people can warm up
“Following the sea bath, all in collaboration with the wellness town of Hafnarfjörður,„ says Freyja Auðunsdóttir, marketing and promotions manager for the long-established Hafnarfjörður-based company Trefjar. “It will be a unique experience."

The company Trefjar is best known for its boat building and hot tubs. Their Cleopatra speedboats can be found in harbours far and wide. However, not everyone knows that four siblings run the company, which was founded by their parents, Audun N. Óskarsson and Anna Margrét Ellertsdóttir.

„It's easy to imagine what has been discussed around the dinner table all this time,“ says Freyja, laughing. The company, now approaching its fiftieth anniversary, has always been based in Hafnarfjörður and, alongside the boats, has also built hot tubs of all shapes and sizes.

„It always comes as a surprise to people that the pots are produced here in Hafnarfjörður and not abroad. But that has been the case for almost forty years,“ says
Freyja adds that they now also sell saunas of various kinds, as more and more people are discovering their beneficial effects on health.

„Sea and sauna, or just sauna… We're eagerly awaiting the reception. With this, we're kind of nodding to our fellow Hafnfirðingar.“

• The sauna will be open from 10 am to 2 pm on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day..
• Fibres will be in the Christmas Village with a fire pit and other products on the 17th of November and the 14th of December.
