Tighter restrictions on public gatherings in the capital region, which came into effect at midnight on 7 October, include the closure of swimming pools and bathing facilities.

The tightened gathering restrictions in the capital region, which came into effect at midnight on 7 October, include the closure of swimming pools and bathing facilities. The swimming pools of Hafnarfjörður, which were closed today, Wednesday 7th October, pending the text and content of a new regulation, will therefore remain closed. The restrictions are in effect until 19th October, or until further notice. The Capital Region refers to Reykjavík, Seltjarnarnes, Mosfellsbær, Kjósarhreppur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Kópavogur.

Regular visitors to the swimming pools and others are in advance thanked for their understanding, and it is everyone's hope that the pools will reopen as soon as possible, or as soon as circumstances and the environment permit.

Notice published 6 October

Due to the tightened measures in the capital region, the executive board of the capital region's civil protection committee has decided to close all swimming pools in the capital region on Wednesday. 7th October. The closure also applies to school swimming.

The next steps regarding swimming pool opening hours will be announced when the new regulation from the Minister of Health concerning additional restrictions in the capital region is published.
